About us
Since opening our doors in 2019, CCA has grown from a one-person practice to a close-knit team of five, serving hundreds of happy clients throughout Auckland and the Coromandel. Our growth has come almost entirely from word-of-mouth referrals because we prioritise clear communication and reliable service.
While our expertise is in accounting, our business comes down to people. Every member of our team has been handpicked not just for their technical skills, but also for their ability to communicate effectively and having a genuine desire to help.
We're proud to call East Auckland and Whitianga home, focusing primarily on serving local businesses and property investors. This local focus means we can provide personal, face-to-face service – whether that's meeting at your place, ours, or anywhere in between.
Founded by Helen Carbery after 20+ years of working in Chartered Accountancy firms, CCA was built on a simple idea: great accounting isn't just about getting the numbers right. It's about building relationships that help businesses thrive.

I have worked in Chartered Accountancy practices for approximately 20 years and officially qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2015. Throughout my professional career, I have worked with businesses of all shapes and sizes, from a diverse range of industries.
My business philosophy is based on building strong relationships with clients. The type of relationship where you feel comfortable picking up the phone or sending me an email when you have questions - even if you just want a sounding board. Where possible, I aim for a same-day response to emails and phone calls.
I also believe in using technology to make the everyday processes involved in running a business more efficient and effective. By simplifying your life through great technology and quality service, I endeavour to help free up your time to focus on doing what you do best (and enjoy most).
My qualifications include:
Bachelor of Business - majoring in Accounting
Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting

I love seeing people succeed and knowing that I’m having a positive impact on the lives of people around me - both clients and staff.

I enjoy walking, exercising at the gym, pilates, boating, fishing, and relaxing with a book.

Prior to joining CCA in September 2023, I spent 40+ years working in a local Chartered Accountancy office. During this time, I was mainly focused on tax compliance and preparing accounts for end-of-year returns.
-
I love seeing clients experience peace of mind, knowing they are in good hands and being properly looked after. Although most of my day-to-day work is spent processing returns and paying close attention to the details, I enjoy the sense of satisfaction that comes from knowing we are making a meaningful difference to the people we serve. I also love the flexibility that being part of a supportive team enables.
While I haven’t formally trained as a CA, I’ve spent the last 40+ years getting the job done behind the scenes for Chartered Accountants. Over the decades, I’ve been heavily involved in almost all aspects of fulfilling client accounting needs.
-
I love going for long walks with my dog, fishing, watching sports (especially rugby and league), and cherish the time I get to spend with my grandchildren.

I started my career in retail management and sales, developing strong client service skills before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. After working at KPMG, I took 10 years off to raise our 3 children, during which time I worked part-time as an office administrator and accountant at a local childcare centre.
I’ve been with CCA since April 2021 and mostly focus on processing GST returns and preparing annual accounts.
My qualifications include:
Diploma in Marketing
Bachelor of Commerce
Graduate Diploma in Business Studies
Chartered Accountant

I love helping our clients - especially those who are new to running a business and need guidance with navigating their tax obligations. Our clients feel comfortable picking up the phone and calling me for a chat, which brings me great joy. I also love the flexibility of being part of a supportive team, allowing me to work around my busy home schedule.

I have 3 children that keep me busy. Working at CCA allows me the flexibility to spend lots of time with my family and be the mother I want to be. I’m very grateful to have found an amazing work-life balance.
I am borderline obsessed with baking bread (I probably do it more often than I should), but friends and family are enjoying my obsession, so I must be doing something right. I have been fortunate enough to do quite a bit of travel, and I dream of travelling the world with our children when they’re older, enabling them to experience different cultures. I also speak Teochew.

Prior to becoming a Chartered Accountant, I managed the books for our family electrical business while raising our kids. During this time, I studied for 10 years for my degree and CA qualification, balancing both part-time and full-time study.
Since qualifying, I've worked in local CA firms for 9+ years, joining Helen in June 2021. I attempt to have a work-life balance between operating from home and enjoying time with the grandkids. I'm still working on the balance part!
My qualifications include:
Bachelor of Business - majoring in Accounting
Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting
Chartered Accountant

I enjoy helping clients understand their accounts and taxes in an easy fashion, making sure they are treated as a person and not just a number. I also gain satisfaction from making everything balance - confirming that my work has been done to a consistently high standard.
-
I have 3 adult children, a crazy puppy and 4 grandkids who rule my life. I love boating, travel and catching up with friends and family whenever I get a chance.

After my university studies, I owned and operated a café for 5 years before taking a break to focus on raising my children. The experience of being self-employed gave me valuable insights into the realities of running a business, which helps me to better serve our clients at CCA. I joined Helen and the team in July 2022.
My qualifications include:
NZ Diploma in Business, majoring in Accounting
NZIM Diploma in Management
Bachelor of Business and Information Management, majoring in Marketing

I love having an employer that is so flexible and supportive - not only to her employees, but also to her clients. It motivates me to strive for the same high standard.

My time floats between the things I love: raising my 4 children, teaching ballet classes, baking, reading, ballet and hip-hop dancing, and taiko drumming. I am grateful that the flexibility of working at CCA allows me to have space for balance in my life.
